This month’s blog comes from Valeria Aruffo, Director for the Africa portfolio
I hope this finds you well as we gear up for a busy Autumn period at EnergyNet.
My colleagues & I just returned from a successful trip in Morocco. The moment we touched down in Rabat, everything went smoothly. We went over in preparation of the EnergyWeek Morocco, our annual meeting which co-locates two of our summits: the Africa Renewable Energy Forum and the Gas Options: North & West Africa. These will both be held in Marrakech from 14-15th November.
Locally both meetings have received incredible support, for which we are extremely grateful. The Ministry of Energy, Mines & Sustainable Development, and more specifically Honourable Aziz Rabbah – the Minister of Energy – have already endorsed the meeting and will be present at the forums.
Upon our arrival at the Ministry on our first day in Rabat, we truly recognised the level of involvement the local public sector was enabling us to have. A meeting organised by the Ministry had all the key partners involved: we sat down with ONEE, OHNYM, AMEE, MASEN & Global Nexus to discuss the agenda, the goals, the aims and the potential outcomes of the forums. The will and engagement from all those present was second to none, and a clear objective of what is required for the event, for Morocco and for the sector was clearly established – we felt honoured to be part of it.
The next day we set off to Casablanca, a beautiful city, hosting some of the biggest private sector players around. Meetings with organisations such as Africa50 and ACWA Power, who both will have significant presence at the forum, only further demonstrated the commitment of the local market in helping us to achieve what is needed for this forum as Morocco as a whole.
I hope you’re able to join us in Marrakech this November. If not, please do stay in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
